Alex Zanardi added a second gold medal to his 2012 Paralympics haul when he triumphed in the Men's Individual H4 Road Race.
The double Champ Car champion and former Jordan, Minardi, Lotus and Williams Formula 1 driver, who lost both legs in a Champ Car crash at Lausitz 11 years ago, won gold in the H4 time trial on Wednesday. In the longer-distance event on Friday, which used part of the Brands Hatch racing circuit, Zanardi led early on, then became part of a thrilling eight-bike lead battle.
He burst back to the front on the final lap, and beat South Africa's Eric van Dyk across the line by one second to secure gold.
After winning his first medal on Wednesday, Zanardi fueled suggestions that his next challenge could be an Indianapolis 500 program in 2013.
