Leonid Novitskiy X-raid Mini Dakar 2012

Team X-raid has bolstered its 2013 Dakar Rally lineup with double FIA Cross Country World Cup winner Leonid Novitskiy.

The 44-year-old Russian finished fourth in last year's event in one of the team's Mini All4 Racings and joins defending champion Stephane Peterhansel, Krzyzstof Holowczyc and Nani Roma in re-signing with the team.

"Leonid convinces in particular by his consistent style of driving," said Team manager Sven Quandt. "With his approach, he avoids getting involved in any difficulties and secures good results. A fact that was demonstrated by his two FIA World Cup titles and his fourth place in this year's Dakar."

Next year's Dakar Rally begins in Lima, Peru on Jan. 5 and concludes in Santiago de Chile 15 days later.
