The World Touring Car Championship will adopt the same points system as Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship for the 2010 season.
The winner will now receive 25 points, continuing with 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 for 10th place.
The system applies to both the first race of the WTCC weekend and the second, top eight reverse-grid race.
The series has also confirmed the base weights for each of the cars for the first two rounds of the season in Brazil and Mexico.
