The FIA has revealed the list of Super 2000 World Rally Championship competitors, which includes three former world title winners.
The teams competing in the new-for-2010 series has already been released, but the sport's governing body has now confirmed Nasser Al-Attiyah, Michal Kosciuszko, Janne Tuohino, Eyvind Brynildsen, Martin Prokop, Bernardo Sousa, Xevi Pons and Patrik Sandell will compete in the 10-round championship, beginning on next month's Swedish Rally.
Only Rally GB, the final round of the season, will include all eight competitors, however, as each driver only has to nominate seven events from the 10 available.
Former Production Car World Rally champion Al-Attiyah, currently running second on the Dakar, is likely to be among the S2000 pacesetters as he switches from a long-term alliance with Subaru to drive a Ford Fiesta S2000.
Former Junior champions Martin Prokop (Fiesta) and Patrik Sandell (Skoda) will also be in the running to lift the WRC's inaugural Super 2000 award. Former Citroen and Subaru factory driver Pons will resurrect his WRC career with a Fiesta drive in a team tended by double World Champion co-driver Luis Moya.
Norway's Eyvind Brynildesn demonstrated his potential at last year's Rally GB, winning the category before being excluded for a technical infringement. Brynildsen will start the season with a new co-driver, as Cato Menkerud joins him in a Fabia S20000. Menkerud, who replaces Denis Giraudet, has spent the last nine years co-driving for Henning Solberg.
In the overall World Rally Championship, the FIA today confirmed that the Stobart M-Sport Ford World Rally Team will run as a fully fledged manufacturer, alongside the factory Ford outfit.
