WC Vision and SCCA Pro Racing have announced the final date of the 2010 World Challenge Championships schedule. The 2010 slate will conclude with a headlining event at Miller Motorsports Park, Oct. 1-3, with support from the Viper Racing League. The event will air Sunday, Oct. 17 at 4:30 p.m. (ET), on Versus. This will be the fourth appearance for World Challenge at the Tooele, Utah, track and the first since 2008.
"We are thrilled to have the World Challenge Championship returning to Miller Motorsports Park in 2010," the track's Senior Vice President and General Manager John Larson said. "The wide variety of manufacturers involved, and the relevance of the cars on the track to the cars we see on the streets every day, make the World Challenge a hit with fans everywhere. We're very pleased to be back on the schedule."
Additionally, the series confirmed that the season-opening round at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, March 26-28, and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge/Honda Indy 200 weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Aug. 6-8, will both feature two World Challenge races.
With the addition of Miller Motorsports Park, the 2010 World Challenge calendar is now complete, with 12 races over eight weekends.
"We're excited about the 2010 schedule, which features a great mixture of traditional high-profile events as well as the opportunity for World Challenge to take the center stage and start what could become new 'traditional' events on the road racing calendar," WC Vision VP, Marketing and Communications Dave Drimmie said. "We've been able to pull this together and give the race fans and teams 20 percent more racing than in 2009, while cutting the travel budgets by 20 percent."2010 World Challenge schedule
