Jamie Whincup made it two wins out of three at Barbagallo as he overcame a tough challenge from race two victor Jason Bright to triumph in the final leg of this weekend's triple-header.

Like this morning's second race, Whincup (Triple 8 Holden) could not hang on to his pole advantage at the start and found himself passed on the opening lap by Bright, who was fresh from giving Brad Jones Racing its first V8 Supercar win in race two.

There was little to separate the pair all race, but the pit stops proved crucial, with Whincup able to jump Bright in the pits and then defend a narrow gap all the way to the checkered flag. HRT's Garth Tander settled into third at the start and maintained that position throughout the race.

Whincup's teammate Craig Lowndes fell from third to sixth on lap one but came back through to fourth ahead of James Courtney (HRT) and top Ford runner Steven Johnson (Dick Johnson Racing).

After their fiery, 37G impact startline accident in the race two, both Karl Reindler and Steve Owen had to sit this race out. Reindler suffered superficial burns to his hands and face, and was eventually joined in hospital by Owen, who went for precautionary checks after developing abdominal soreness.
