Richard Westbrook and Jorg Bergmeister are the latest drivers to secure drives at the Surfers Paradise V8 Supercar round in October.
Both drivers have joined Kelly Racing for the Gold Coast 600 event with Westbrook partnering Todd Kelly in one of the team's Holden Commodores and Bergmeister driving alongside former series champion Rick Kelly in the sister car.
Westbrook, who has two Porsche Supercup titles and an FIA GT2 crown to his name, and currently races a JR Motorsports Nissan in the GT1 World Championship and a factory Corvette in ILMC events, said that he was excited about racing a V8.
"This year I've been racing an iconic American muscle car in the Corvette, and now I'll get to sample some Aussie muscle with a Commodore," said the British driver (pictured).
"They are both V8s and rear-wheel drive but obviously V8 Supercars are unique beasts. I expect it to take some getting used to but I will do my research and I can't wait for the challenge."
Bergmeister, who has won five GT2 crowns in the ALMS plus a Grand-Am title and the 24 hour races at Spa and Daytona, said he had become interested in the event after talking to his regular Flying Lizard Porsche teammate Pat Long, who entered last year.
"He told me how much fun the entire event was and how challenging the cars were to drive – a lot of power with small tires," the German added.
A total of 10 "international" drivers – including IndyCar front-runners Will Power and Alex Tagliani and three-time World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx, have now confirmed their drives at the event.
