Red Bull Formula 1 driver Mark Webber will take part in the karting event to raise funds for the injured Chris van der Drift next week.
Van der Drift suffered two broken fingers, a double break to his right ankle and a dislocated and cracked shoulder in a horrifying Superleague Formula crash at Brands Hatch last month. To help raise funds to cover the cost of van der Drift's treatment, fellow racers are coming together for a charity kart race at Daytona Karting in Milton Keynes, England, on Sept. 7.
Webber is the latest to commit to the event, joining British Formula 3 champion Jean-Eric Vergne, Red Bull F1 test driver Daniel Ricciardo, former Red Bull junior Brendon Hartley, F3 race-winners Alexander Sims and Oli Webb, and Formula Renault frontrunner Tom Blomqvist.
"It's really humbling to see so many good friends from within the industry support me through this difficult period," said van der Drift. "I am really looking forward to the kart fundraiser. I am sure it will be a fantastic event and I really cannot thank everyone enough for their efforts."
