Mark Webber will kick off preparations for his season-opening home race in Australia with a Formula 1 demonstration run over Melbourne's Bolte Bridge in the build-up to the event.
The Red Bull Racing driver is scheduled to take one of his F1 cars for a run over the six-laned bridge on the Saturday before the Australian Grand Prix. After the run over the bridge, Webber will then drive his car down to Waterfront City in Melbourne's Docklands as part of his promotional appearance. The event is due to take place on Saturday, March 19.
Australian Grand Prix boss Andrew Westacott said: "We are the first race on the calendar and this will be the first opportunity for fans to welcome their hero home ahead of the 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix. This unique event will truly mark the beginning of Webber's 2011 season and we wish him all the best for the year ahead."
