Volkswagen Riedermann Weis

Volkswagen will continue its young driver assessment program at the World Rally Championship's Rally Germany, entering a pair of Skoda Fabia S2000s for Hans Weis Jr. and Christian Riedermann.

The event will be seen as an audition for both drivers for a potential drive with the manufacturer when it enters the World Rally Championship with the Polo R WRC in 2013. It is the second such audition event for Volkswagen as it will also field Fabias for Andreas Mikkelsen and Joonas Lindroos in Finland.

"Rallye Deutschland marks the second step in our talent assessment program," said Volkswagen motorsport director Kris Nissen. "As in Finland, we've again selected two young drivers who have already shown great potential in their brief careers. They are now receiving the unique opportunity to recommend themselves in the toughest competitive conditions for a slot in the Volkswagen rally team."

Weis, 24, was the runner-up in the Junior World Rally Championship last year and won the category in Germany. Riedermann, 23, is in his first year at international level and currently lies seventh in the WRC Academy.
