Vita4One BMW, Spa 2012Frank Kechele earned pole position for the Spa 24 Hours at the wheel of the lead Vita4One BMW Z4 as the superpole session was canceled.

The German, who shares the BMW with Mathias Lauda and Greg Franchi, emerged fastest in the two qualifying sessions on Thursday evening, which will now set the grid for the fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series after Friday's pole session was called off because of heavy rain.

Kechele's fastest lap of 2m19.473s was just eight hundredths quicker than Max Martin's fastest lap in the Marc VDS BMW. Alvaro Parente ended up third fastest a further two tenths behind in the best of the Von Ryan Racing McLaren MP4-12Cs. The fastest of the four factory-backed Audi R8 LMS ultras was the WRT entry driven by Stephane Ortelli.
