EJ Viso has been released from hospital following his Indianapolis 500 practice accident that ended Tuesday's session.
The 25-year-old Venezuelan crashed heavily at Turn 1 in the closing minutes of the six-hour session. He was removed from the car and taken to the circuit's medical facility on a stretcher. He remained awake and alert, but complained of back pain and was transferred to the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Viso was examined by IndyCar doctor Terry Trammell and subsequently released from the hospital at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, suffering only from bruising. He will have to pass a fitness test at the circuit today, but expects to take part in this afternoon's practice session in KV Racing's back-up car.
