On Monday night, Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman along with the iconic Borg-Warner Trophy (a link to highlights of the interview is below). This was the final stop on Kanaan's Indy 500 media tour, as he flew into New York from Detroit following the race on Sunday.
The Borg-Warner Trophy was sent via courier from Indianapolis for its special appearance. Little-known fact – the Late Show is produced in the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway, and in 1957 after Sam Hanks won the Indianapolis 500, Sam and the Borg-Warner also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. After 56 years, the trophy was back in the same theater for its first appearance on the Late Show.
Kanaan's face will be the 100th added to the famous trophy later this fall and Tony will be presented with his own "Baby Borg" in January in Detroit.
