Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen says he is relishing the opportunity to go racing again for the first time since walking away from the DTM at the end of the 2007 season.

In the video interview below with his former McLaren teammate David Coulthard, the Finn relates his expectations ahead of his debut in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup driving a Customer AMG Sports Team China-run SLS GT3 at Zhuhai this weekend. Hakkinen admitted that while he has never competed in an endurance event before he is looking forward to the challenge: "I've done a couple of tests with the SLS and Mercedes has done fantastic work to develop this car."

"I've never done one before and I certainly like it [the format]," he added. "In this category, there is no type of competing with your teammates – it's more about team spirit and together creating the tactics for the race. What is our goal, our aim, together?"

Hakkinen revealed that he could be tempted to return to competition on a more regular basis next year.
