Earlier this year, I had the fortune of getting a hot lap with Cadillac Racing's Andy Pilgrim at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the team's CTS-V two-seater, the same car that it runs in the Pirelli World Challenge.

What was a sensory experience in that part of Northern California at Monterey was amplified with an encore performance – this time riding with another legend, GT class champion and Pilgrim's teammate Johnny O'Connell – at Sonoma this past weekend.

I took this one from my iPhone. My hope is that the change in stability can accurately capture the violence, undulations and roller coaster ride that is Sonoma – because every bit of it felt amazing from the run up the hill, through the 3 and 3A complex, plunging down the hill, up again, through the Carousel, hard on the brakes into the Turn 7 hairpin, then launching out through the esses and back into the final hairpin. But for a more polished look at what it's like from the car, check out the "official" lap with O'Connell and Pilgrim, below mine.
