Sebastian Vettel has elected to call his car "Abbey" this season, after abandoning plans to hand it the moniker of "Everybody's Wife."
The World Champion has always given his racing cars names, having competed in "Kate," "Kate's Dirty Sister," "Luscious Liz" and "Kinky Kylie" over recent years. For this year, Vettel was initially undecided on the name for his RB8, but has chosen "Abbey," which could be a reference to the final album of his favorite band the Beatles, which was called "Abbey Road."
Vettel said he chose the name simply because he liked it, and was unsure if he would choose an adjective as well.
"No, not yet. Let's see how she behaves," he smiled.
Vettel also revealed that there had been plans to call it something else completely, but he decided against it because it would have been complicated to explain.
"Initially, we thought of 'Everybody's Wife' to give the car that name," he said. "But we binned it because these questions come and you have to explain.
"One of the guys gave the explanation that it might not be too sexy because it has a bit of a beak and it needs a nose job, but it runs like a train!"
