Sebastian Vettel was left lamenting his lack of running during the opening day of testing at Barcelona on Friday, despite setting the fastest time.
The Red Bull driver went off a few times during the morning and his team was forced to carry out several checks which took longer than expected. He managed only 37 laps on the day.
Vettel still managed to run in the afternoon and put his car on top of the times. Despite that, the World Champion admitted he was hoping for more running.
"Unfortunately, not many laps. We had a long break, longer than we expected, but what can I say," Vettel told reporters at Barcelona.
Speaking about the problem, he said: "Nothing big. Nothing actually broke, but obviously during testing if you think there might a problem you would rather have a look at the part before you continue and have a problem.
"As I said, it took longer than expected, but the boys were flat-out and did their best. In the end, we got some runs and overall not as much as we would have liked but there's another day tomorrow."
Vettel also admitted having the number one on his car means little at the start of the season, and he says his approach will be the same as before.
"It's a new championship, so it's completely open. Having the number one or seven or 10 doesn't make me any faster. I still have to push hard and try to give everything."
