Former karting star Aaro Vainio will step up to GP3 in 2011. The 17-year-old will remain with French team Tech 1 Racing, which took him to fourth in this year's Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.
Vainio was the highest-placed rookie in the 2010 series. Although he ended the season win-less, the Finn scored three second places at Hockenheim and Barcelona.
Vainio lifted the European SKF and KF1 karting titles in 2009. Like fellow ex-Maranello kart racer, and current GP2 driver, Jules Bianchi, Vainio is managed by Nicolas Todt.
Tech 1 Racing finished sixth in this year's inaugural GP3 teams' standings, and registered podiums with Stefano Coletti and Daniel Juncadella.
