Former Le Mans 24 Hours winner Johnny Herbert has confirmed that he will race in the Spa 24 Hours on July 30-31 for United Autosport, the Anglo-American squad owned by American Zak Brown and Briton Richard Dean, driving an Audi R8 LMS.
The Britain tested the GT3 car at Snetterton last week and will join a three car lineup alongside Mark Blundell, Eddie Cheever and Stefan Johansson, who also raced for the team in the Belgian event last year.
"I've never competed in the Spa 24 Hours," said the Briton. "So I am really looking forward to that aspect, as well as reacquainting myself with Audi."
Herbert, who raced LMP1 Audi R8s between 2001 and 2004, is joined by Matt Bell, Richard Meins and Henri Richard in United Autosports' 12-driver, three-car Spa squad. Team co-owner Zak Brown says the team plans to add another "legend" to its lineup for the race, which will mark United Autosports third 24-hour race this year, following on from the team's fourth-place finish in the Rolex 24 in the Daytona Prototype category.
