Ho-Pin Tung's crew send him a messageHo-Pin Tung has been diagnosed with a minor back fracture following his collision with Jules Bianchi at the start of the Hungaroring GP2 feature race.

The DAMS driver hit Bianchi's ART car head on after the latter had run wide and spun back across the track on the exit of the first corner. Both drivers were taken to hospital, but while Bianchi is facing a long lay-off with back injuries, Tung escaped with less severe damage

"Following yesterday's accident in the GP2 feature race at the Hungaroring, Ho-Pin Tung had an MRI scan this morning, which confirmed a very small fracture on the lumbar vertebra," said a statement from the Renault Formula 1 team, for which Tung is a reserve driver. "No surgery is required and his period of recovery is not expected to be an extended one.

"He will remain in Budapest's AEK Hospital until Tuesday and will then return home to rest. A further medical examination is scheduled for two weeks' time to assess his recovery."

GP2 does not resume until the Spa rounds on the final weekend of August.
