Paul Tracy is back at this year's Rolex 24 at Daytona, for the first time in five years. The Canadian joins brothers Burt and Brian Frisselle and neurosurgeon Dr. Jim Lowe in the Doran Racing No. 77 Ford Dallara.

It's a return home of sorts for PT, who drove his initial Rolex 24 in a Kevin Doran-built chassis in 2005. He made starts at Daytona each of the next two seasons for Michael Shank Racing in a Lexus Riley.

“I'm very excited to make my return to Daytona for the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, and especially with Doran Racing,” Tracy said. “I drove my first Rolex 24 in a Doran JE4 design back in 2005, and it was a great experience.

“I'm grateful that Kevin's put his trust in me as a driver and paired me with the Frisselle brothers and Jim Lowe. One of my first big race wins as a driver came in 1986, when I was 17, in a Frisbee Can-Am car – a car that Brian and Burt's father (Brad) built (RIGHT). So I am thrilled to now be able to race with the next generation of Frisselle.

“I'm looking forward to a very competitive race weekend in the No. 77 Combos/Circle-K Doran Racing DP entry.”

Tracy joins a star-studded field in the Daytona Prototype class that also features a number of IndyCar drivers. Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Graham Rahal, Tony Kanaan, Ryan Hunter-Reay, E.J. Viso, Ryan Briscoe and Justin Wilson – along with a host of former IndyCar pilots and some Indy Lights driver – will ensure open-wheel veterans feature prominently in the class.

Doran's No. 77 ran the majority of 2011 with Brian Frisselle and Henri Richard. Lowe, who made his DP debut at last year's Rolex 24 for Starworks Motorsports, will join the Frisselle brothers at the three-race North American Endurance championship events in the Rolex Series' 2012 season.
