The Toyota team will decide on Sunday morning if Timo Glock races at the Japanese Grand Prix following his heavy crash during qualifying.

Glock was airlifted to hospital on Saturday after he crashed heavily during the second qualifying segment. The FIA said the German was complaining of back pains and had a wound in his left leg. His Toyota team said a decision on whether he can race will only be made in the morning.

If Glock can't race, the Japanese squad will consider trying to use third driver Kamui Kobayashi for the event. The Japanese driver already replaced Glock in Friday practice, when the German was feeling ill. Under the current rules, however, Kobayashi would not be allowed to race unless he gets special dispensation from the FIA.

"No driver may start in the race without taking part in at least one practice session on the second day of practice," the rule says.
