SPEED.com's Robin Miller reports that Tony George, founder of the Indy Racing League, has been reinstated to the Board of Directors of Hulman & Company, the umbrella group that funds and administers the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IZOD IndyCar Series.
George resigned as Chief Executive Officer of Hulman & Company and IMS in 2009, reportedly following a disagreement within the Hulman-George family over his stewardship. He was replaced on the IMS board by two longtime Hulman Company employees, Jeff Belskus and Curt Brighton, while Randy Bernard was chosen by the board to take over leadership of the IRL, since re-branded as IndyCar.
According to Miller's report, George's return is not expected to have any immediate effect on the day-to-day operations of IndyCar.
