Since his resignation from the board of directors of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and yesterday's shutting down of his Vision Racing team for lack of sponsorship, rumors have percolated that Tony George might be planning to buy the Indy Racing League from the IMS Corporation. Speculation had George teaming up with others including former Champ Car boss Kevin Kalkhoven, with whom he recently shared a skiing vacation in Austria. However, both men have now publicly denied that such a move is in the works.

"I said no to the question because I'm not,” George told the Indianapolis Star when asked about his interest in buying back into the league. Kalkhoven also denied interest in getting back into the open-wheel league ownership business. "Been there, done that," he told the Star.
