Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced today that South African driver, Tomas Scheckter, will join the team’s IndyCar Series effort for the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend. Scheckter, who finished 12th in the Indianapolis 500 for Dale Coyne Racing, is also undergoing discussions with the team regarding additional events, Dreyer & Reinbold confirmed.

“We are excited to have Tomas join our team. We have talked to him on a number of occasions about doing something together and this opportunity came up to pair him with Mike for the weekend. We feel like we are going in Milwaukee very strong as a team,” said team co-owner Dennis Reinbold.

The 28 year-old native of Cape Town, South Africa competed in six IndyCar Series races for Luczo Dragon Racing last year, having been a regular on the IRL tour since 2002.

“I’m really happy,” said Scheckter. “I’ve been talking to Dennis and Larry Curry, who I have had a relationship with, for a while and we have been in and out of here a couple of times. For us to put this together is great and I’m really looking forward to it. It will be good working with some people that I have worked with before.”

Scheckter will replace Milka Duno in the team’s No. 23 Dallara-Honda at Milwaukee, while Mike Conway will return in Dreyer & Reinbold’s No. 24 entry, which is sponsored by Roll Coater entry this weekend.
