Series promoter WC Vision today announced three more venues that will host 2012 Pirelli World Challenge Championship races – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Infineon Raceway. One more event completing the 2012 season will be announced soon.
May 10-11 marks the return of the series to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in combination with the American Le Mans Series. On Aug. 3-5, teams will head to Mid-Ohio to race alongside the ALMS and IZOD IndyCar Series. For the 2012 season finale, the series travels back out west with IndyCar to Sonoma, Calif. returning to Infineon Raceway. The Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma runs Aug. 24-26.
The 2012 season is the 23rd for the SCCA Pro Racing series, which recently announced a new class – Touring Car B-Spec. The new class will run at three of the eight event weekends (Miller Motorsports Park, Detroit's Belle Isle, and Mosport) for a total of nine races. During those three event weekends, Touring Car and Touring Car B-Spec will run separate races from the GT and GTS fields. In 2012, GT and GTS classes will compete in a total of 12 races, Touring Car 13.
