Rubens Barrichello had his IZOD IndyCar Series oval rookie test delayed from Sunday night at Texas Motor Speedway and is going through the on-track orientation Monday morning prior to the start today's IndyCar open test at the track, which features a total of 11 drivers.
Barrichello's KV Racing Technology teammate Tony Kanaan gave the No. 8 BMC/Embrase/Hyundai Brazil Dallara-Chevrolet a brief shakedown on the high-banked, 1.5-mile oval when the track opened at 8:30 a.m. to get the car prepped for Rubens, who is expected to conduct his rookie oval test until approximately 10 a.m. local time and then the track will be opened to the other IZOD IndyCar Series drivers.
Joining Barrichello for today's test are Team Penske drivers Ryan Briscoe (No. 2 IZOD Chevrolet), Helio Castroneves (No. 3 Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet) and Will Power (No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet); Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Dario Franchitti (No. 10 Target Honda) and Scott Dixon (No. 9 Target Honda); Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing's Graham Rahal (No. 38 Service Central Honda); Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing's Charlie Kimball (No. 83 Novo Nordisk Honda); AJ Foyt Racing's Mike Conway (No. 14 ABC Supply Co./AJ Foyt Racing Honda) and Wade Cunningham; and Ed Carpenter Racing's Ed Carpenter (No. 20 Fuzzy's Vodka/Ed Carpenter Chevrolet).
The test, which is open to the public, is scheduled to run from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m. local time with a one-hour break for the teams from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
