Federal Way, WA (Aug. 24, 2005)—TC Motorsports team principal and lead driver Carlo Sparacio will compete in rounds 5 and 6 of the SCCA Pro Racing Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires. It will take place at Infineon Raceway, which is located in the picturesque wine country of Sonoma, California. This doubleheader weekend is the final two races of the Miata Cup championship and will be held as a support race for the Argent Mortgage Grand Prix Indy Racing League (IRL) Championship.
Rounds 4 and 5 of the Miata Cup championship at Portland International Raceway proved very successful for Carlo. He captured two fifth place finishes and was named the Sunoco Hard Charger in each race for moving up the most positions. Coming into the final two races, Carlo is unofficially fifth of almost 50 competitors in the driver’s championship.
Driving the #2 TC Motorsports/Group 2 Motorsports/Applied Racing Technologies/Eprodius.com Spec Miata, this will be Carlo’s first visit to Infineon Raceway. Carlo says “I have been looking forward to driving Infineon for years. Too bad my first laps on the track will be in one of the most competitive and hotly contested Miata Cup races of the year. Our goal coming into this series was to have at least one top five finish and to develop our already potent TC Motorsports cars. We’ve reached those goals, so now we have another goal of finishing top five in the championship. The final two races in California won’t be easy for sure given that we are heading back to California and competing against some great teams at their home track.”
Carlo is currently listed as the only entrant for this event not based in California. He continues, “The Mazdaspeed Miata Cup has been the perfect proving grounds for our engine development work, and with the help of Applied Racing Technologies, we are on par power-wise and can focus of chassis set-up and driver development.”
