Nick TandyNick Tandy has quit the British Formula 3 championship to join the F3 Euro Series with the Kolles & Heinz Union team that he made his debut for last weekend at the Norisring.

Following the outing in Germany, the 25-year-old has agreed a deal with the Volkswagen-backed Kolles team to contest the remainder of the Euro Series, but the terms of the contract prevent Tandy from racing again in his Mercedes-powered JTR Mygale.

"I had an offer to join a manufacturer-supported team in the Euro Series and this is the sort of thing that I've been racing the last four years to get the opportunity to do," Tandy told AUTOSPORT.

Tandy tested for JTR at Snetterton yesterday but will not take any further part in the race weekend.

The JTR team plans to continue in British F3 and is searching for a driver to replace Tandy for the remaining rounds.
