Former 125cc world champion Gabor Talmacsi is to make a shock MotoGP debut with the Scot Honda team at this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix. The Hungarian has been on the sidelines since abruptly splitting with the Aspar 250cc squad just before the Le Mans race last month. He is set to join Yuki Takahashi in an expanded two-bike Scot line-up this weekend.
The 28-year-old won the 2007 125cc title, then came third in his championship defence last season, before quitting 250cc just three races into his rookie season after a contractual dispute with Aspar.
Talmacsi's backers include the organizers of the Hungarian MotoGP round at the Balatonring that was scheduled for later this season before being postponed to 2010 due to construction and financing delays.
