Alex Tagliani has become the second driver to be issued a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday's IndyCar race at Barber Motorsports Park after the Bryan Herta Autosport team was forced to switch the Lotus unit in his car after qualifying.
Oriol Servia of fellow Lotus team Dreyer & Reinbold was given the same sanction earlier in the weekend. Both fell foul of Rule 15.6.1 of the sporting regulations, which prevents unauthorized engine changes unless the engine fails during a race.
Tagliani had qualified 23rd for the race, meaning that the penalty will move the Canadian to the back row of the grid.
