Superleague Formula organizers have announced the cancellation of the Asian rounds of the series. The news comes less than a month after the series announced it had also canceled its South American events.
Superleague said it could not "reach terms" with Chinese local authorities.
Beijing was to host a race on Oct. 29-30 and Shanghai a week later, before also making its first appearance in South Korea on Nov. 12-13. The Korean round has been canceled, too, and so the 2011 season is now over, following two rounds in the Netherlands and Belgium.
"While everyone at Superleague Formula recognizes this is an unsatisfactory outcome for the thousands of fans, it was simply not possible to travel to China with certain details still to be agreed," said competitions director Robin Webb. "That this announcement has come so close to the first scheduled event is testament to the championship's tireless attempts to stage the races as planned, especially after the warm welcome we received in China last season.
"Naturally, I am as frustrated as anyone that the championship will not be visiting Asia this year. I would like to reassure fans, however, that plans are already well advanced in putting together a much-improved package for 2012, announcements on which will be made in due course."
Earlier this year, the series had also canceled its season finale in New Zealand.
