Sunoco fuels has signed on as the primary sponsor for Tony Kanaan's KV Racing Technology IndyCar team. The Indy 500 champion will drive the Sunoco car in four upcoming IZOD IndyCar Series races.
“I am very proud and happy that Sunoco will be my primary sponsor for four upcoming races – Texas, Iowa, Pocono and Mid-Ohio," related Kanaan. "Sunoco has a long heritage in Indy car racing beginning in the late 1960s and are a proven winner. I look forward to my association with them and hopefully getting them to victory.”
Cynthia Archer, Sunoco vice president of marketing and development, explained that the deal is part of the company's promotion of the upcoming animated feature film, TURBO.
“We are thrilled with our partnership. Teaming up with DreamWorks Animation and 2013 Indianapolis 500 champ Tony Kanaan is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Archer. "It gives us a great platform to create excitement for our annual Free Fuel 5000 promotion and the TURBO movie.”
Sheila Clarke, DreamWorks Animation head of global promotions, added: “You cannot ask for a better fit than the
Indy 500 champ in the driver's seat of the Sunoco TURBO car, and we will be cheering on Tony as he carries the
momentum through these upcoming races. The TURBO car kicks off a wonderful relationship with Sunoco and
we look forward to celebrating this alliance on the track and onscreen.”
