ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (June 21, 2008) – Sunny skies, warm temperatures and record lap times were the order of the day Friday at Road America for the opening qualifying sessions at the 53rd Annual Chicago Region June Sprints.
Six of the nine race groups ran their initial qualifying sessions, with eight drivers running better than the current Road America track records. They were: Andy McDermid (American Sedan), David MacNeil (Touring 2), J.R. Osborne (D Sports Racing), Matthew Ingle (Formula Enterprises), Tim Kautz (Formula Ford), Tom Thrash (E Production), Bob Kelly (H Production) and Brian Schofield (Spec Racer Ford).
Final qualifying for those races will take place Saturday morning, while groups seven through nine will run their first qualifiers. Racing begins Saturday afternoon, with the first four events beginning just prior to 3 p.m. (CST).
