Although Jonathan Summerton's 2013 race plans were set back following the decision by BMW Team RLL not to bring him back for the 2013 American Le Mans Series campaign, the young American is undaunted as he looks around for fresh opportunities.

"Life throws curve balls and well, you just have to keep focused," said Summerton, who finished both third and fourth at Petit Le Mans last year after splitting his time between the two BMW entries.

"I am back working on a ride for the 2013 season as BMW decided to use Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand as their two main drivers for this season. I want to say thank you to Bobby Rahal and BMW for a fun season. Finishing first in Sebring, driving both cars at Petit and setting three fastest race laps, and running in the top three every race I was in, was pretty exciting.

"I had some great meetings at the USGP with some F1 teams, and have been talking with teams from Global RallyCross to IndyCar."

For now, Summerton's focus is on the burgeoning Global RallyCross Championship, after testing both its Lights car prototype and SuperCar.

"This week I got the opportunity to test the new Global RallyCross Lights car, along with the awesome SuperCar. What a blast!" enthused Summerton. "650 hp, 4-wheel drive, sequential gearbox, hydraulic handbrake – the SuperCar was so much fun. I would love to race in the Global RallyCross series if the right opportunity comes along. Very excited for what lies ahead.

"It is now onto a new exciting chapter and I look forward to keeping you updated on my upcoming season through videos and updates all the time. Please be sure to follow on Twitter @JSummerton and like my Facebook page. Thank you for all your support."
