Last year's Rally of Scotland winner Juho Hanninen is making radical changes to his Skoda Fabia S2000 in an attempt to find some pace from the car before this afternoon's stages.
The Finn is languishing in fifth place, 41.3 seconds off the similar car of leader Andreas Mikkelsen. Hanninen's factory teammate Jan Kopecky is eighth, almost a minute and a half down.
"The car is not right," said Hanninen. "We have to work on it. The car is not flowing for me. Okay, driving has not been so good this morning, but I am having to take the roads corner by corner."
Hanninen said he would be looking at the Fabia's rear differential.
"Maybe we change [the rear differential], and that will help us find some more traction out of the corner," he suggested. "We need some more push from the car."
The defending Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion added that he would also be looking at the Skoda's suspension settings and possibly softening the car in order to source more grip from the Scottish roads.
