Casey Stoner, V8 DS, Adelaide 2013Casey Stoner's V8 Supercar team was pleased with his first day of running in Adelaide as he set top 10 times in both free practice sessions.

The two-time MotoGP champion makes his debut in the second tier V8 series this weekend. The Australian set the ninth fastest time in the morning session, before ending the second session in eighth place and just 0.6 second off the pace.

Triple 8 team owner Roland Dane said: "It was a very good run out of the box. In the morning he was just 1.2 seconds off the quickest guys and he has never been to the circuit before or raced within the confines of walls, and the track was very green. We're pretty happy with that. He finished top 10 with plenty of experienced guys all around him."

Dane believes that the solid start to the weekend will help Stoner settle in to his new environment.

"He is in the thick of the action," he said. "He didn't touch anything, he didn't hit anything. He did a great job and I'm sure he'll be more relaxed now."
