Former MotoGP champion Casey Stoner has dominated the warm-up at a rainy Donington Park, ahead of this afternoon British Grand Prix.

The factory Ducati rider shot to the top of the timesheets with eight minutes left in the 20-minute session and further improved on the following two laps to end up with a time of 1m39.197s.

The Australian's time were constantly two seconds quicker than the rest of the field, but his rivals improved their times in the final minutes while Stoner didn't, and in the end Jorge Lorenzo emerged as best of the rest with his Yamaha, albeit almost half a second back.

Honda's Andrea Dovizioso was third quickest, ahead of a resurgent Nicky Hayden (Ducati), and LCR Honda's Randy de Puniet.

Hayate Kawasaki's Marco Melandri stopped the clock with the sixth fastest time, followed by pole position man Valentino Rossi, whose Yamaha was more than 1.2 seconds slower than Stoner.

Chris Vermeulen was eighth with his Suzuki, with Colin Edwards (Tech 3 Yamaha) and Alex de Angelis (Gresini Honda) rounding up the top ten.
