Stobart Ford will return to a three-car lineup for next weekend's Rally Poland as it fields an additional entry for local hero Krzysztof Holowczyc.

The team began the season with three entries but Urmo Aava had to drop out due to a lack of funding after just two rounds, leaving Matthew Wilson and Henning Solberg as Stobart's only representatives since then.

Holowczyc is a former winner of the Rally Poland, which is running as part of the World Rally Championship for the first time since 1973 this year. Winner of the European title in 1997, he is now a member of the European Parliament but still contests occasional events, including the Dakar Rally.

He expects his local knowledge to make him a match for the WRC regulars.

"For us this rally is not new and it is going to be fantastic to be on a road that we know well in one of the best cars out there," said Holowczyc.

"It is very exciting for us to be part of one of the best teams and I think it will be a surprise for some people to see a driver who doesn't take part in the WRC regularly go quite fast on the stages."

Holowczyc is also confident that Poland's return to the WRC will be a great success.

"It is very important for the fans in Poland to be able to see the best rally drivers in the world," he said. "I think that there will be a massive number of people who come out to watch."
