The Status Grand Prix team has withdrawn from this weekend's Spa 6 Hours in the wake of a heavy crash in free practice on Thursday.
Insufficient spares were available for the team to repair its LMP2 Lola-Judd/BMW B12/80, which Alexander Sims crashed in the dying minutes of second free practice for round two of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Sims was unhurt in the 6g impact at the top of Eau Rouge.
Sims, who had been second fastest in P2 in the opening practice session, said: "It was totally my fault. I was behind some other cars and didn't appreciate how much downforce I would lose."
Status GP team manager Simon Cayzer said: "It's clearly disappointing for all at Status GP, our drivers, sponsors and technical partners, to not be participating in Saturday's race here at Spa. However, the most important thing is Alexander is OK, and we pay tribute to Lola for the car's integrity in the accident."
Sims, who is contesting the full European Le Mans Series in the Status Lola, was due to share the car this weekend with Yelmer Buurman and Romain Iannetta.
Status will now focus on its preparations for the Le Mans 24 Hours next month.
