Ben Spies said he was relieved not to suffer any serious injuries in his Silverstone crash, having been given a clean bill of health following medical checks.
The American fell at Abbey while running sixth in the extremely wet British Grand Prix today. He was taken to the medical centre for checks having reported back and neck pain, but scans showed no damage.
"The track was really wet, when I hit the brakes going into turn one the front just dropped away and I hit the wall before I knew it," Spies said. "I hit my back pretty badly, my back protector is really busted up, but it did its job."
He admitted he was in discomfort at present, but has no concerns about his fitness for the next grand prix in the Netherlands in two weeks.
"I'm really sore and will probably need a big cushion for a few days but I'm happy it wasn't worse," said Spies. "We'll take a few days to relax and recover then come back fighting at Assen."
