Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing announced on Monday that Spencer Pigot will join the team for the Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda.

Pigot, 18, is a 2011 and 2010 Team USA Scholarship winner. He is no stranger to USF2000 as he drove for Andretti Autosport this past season and finished second to Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Petri Suvanto. In 2010, he won the BF Goodrich/Skip Barber National Series presented by MAZDA championship. He also completed the SunTrust/Wayne Taylor Racing Young Driver Development Program and has won multiple national, state and regional championship karting titles.

“I'm really excited about driving for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing for the 2012 season,” said Pigot. “With all of the experience they have as a team in USF2000, I'm looking forward to learning a lot and improving every weekend. My goal for the year is to win the USF2000 championship and do all I can to help Cape Motorsports win the team championship as well. I can't wait for the WinterFest and to get back in the car. I have to thank Dominic and Nicholas Cape as well as Dale Pelfrey for helping to put this deal together.”

Pigot will drive the No. 2 machine and completes the three-driver line-up for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. He joins previously announced drivers Matthew Brabham and Trent Hindman.

“Of all our years in USF2000, this is our strongest driver lineup,” said team owner Dominic Cape. “We are looking forward to a great season.”

All three drivers will be on track for the Cooper Tires Winterfest. The first event is Feb. 6-7 at Sebring International Raceway, and the second event is Feb. 11-12 at Palm Beach International Raceway.
