The huge fields of trucks seen at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is expected to bring huge crowds of spectators to round two at Speedworld Off Road Park in Surprise, Ariz., on April 17-18.

Crews began weeks ago on improvements and upgrades aimed at creating the most comfortable environment possible for race teams and race fans. Among other changes, Speedworld has enlarged the V.I.P. RV spaces from 12ft to 18ft wide, expanded the pit area to accommodate additional race entries and added an additional 1000-seat grandstand along the front straight.

“We're working hard to make improvements,” says Speedworld owner Dan Matthews. “We want to be sure the racers, the fans and the great people at Lucas Oil enjoy this facility. Bigger, better, stronger, faster has always been our motto with regard to the ease of operation, user friendliness and the unique qualities that Speedworld has to offer,”

Built in 2009, Speedworld Off Road Park features high berm left and right corners, two big front straight jumps, a one-of-a-kind section that has earned the moniker, “The Moguls” and an 80mph left-hand sweeper. That last, fast turn is one of the elements that the racers love.

It's really fast,” says Pro 2 Unlimited and Pro Lite Unlimited driver Rodrigo Ampudia. “There are a lot of different obstacles. The high-speed turn before the finish line is really interesting and you've got to really hold on and go for it if you want to be in the lead pack.”
