TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 13, 2005) – SPEED Channel’s “The Year in Racing”, an hour-long program highlighting the past season, will feature the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge® Championships this Friday, Jan. 14 at 10 p.m. (ET). SPEED Channel personality Leigh Diffey will host.-30-
Highlights from both the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED Touring Car and SCCA Pro Racing SPEED GT Championships, tabbed “the best road racing in the country” in September by Car and Driver, will be shown during the hour-long show.
Beginning with 2004’s first event, the 52nd Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring - which saw dominating performances in SPEED GT by the brand new Cadillac CTS-V and in SPEED Touring Car by reigning point champion Bill Auberlen, the 10-round tilt was a hit with race fans and enthusiasts all season long.
Full of high-level performances through every round, none of the four World Challenge point Championships (individual and manufacturer for both GT and Touring Car) were decided until the tenth and final round in October at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where Auberlen claimed his second-straight title, Tommy Archer won his first SPEED GT crown and BMW and Audi wrapped up the Touring Car and GT Manufacturer crowns, respectively.
