Dani Sordo holds a comfortable lead on his Intercontinental Rally Challenge debut in Corsica at the end of day two.
The Mini driver had been in a close tussle with Andreas Mikkelsen's Skoda and Giandomenico Basso's Ford on Thursday, but both his rivals would hit trouble.
An incident with a public car on a road section on Thursday night eliminated Basso, and Mikkelsen went off the road while leading on Friday's second stage. The Skoda hit a telephone pole but was able to continue with a delay of just under three minutes. Mikkelsen's comeback was then hampered by a puncture on the day's final stage.
That allowed Sordo to establish a 25.2-second cushion over Jan Kopecky, who moved up to second in the factory Skoda. The Czech driver has been battling with Pierre Campana (Munaretto Peugeot) all day, and was able to edge out a 4.4s gap on the final stage after Campana had been getting ever closer. Bryan Bouffier's Peugeot is just behind this battle in fourth.
Mikkelsen is currently listed as holding fifth place, nearly four minutes off the lead following his dramas, although there is confusion over whether the final stage times will count as the stage was suspended due to a car catching fire.
