Petter Solberg's challenge for the podium in the Jordan Rally has ended after he went off the road on the first stage of today's second loop. The Norwegian was still in contention for second place, running close behind Jari-Matti Latvala and Sebastien Loeb. But he went off three kilometers into the second running of the Yakrut stage. The team confirmed that Solberg and co-driver Chris Petterson were unhurt but could not continue.
Solberg's retirement moves Mikko Hirvonen up to fourth and means Kimi Raikkonen and Matthew Wilson are now battling for fifth. Sebastien Ogier continues to lead.
