Brett Smrz further strengthened his position as a top up-and-coming driver this past weekend, with a record winning performance in the Jim Russell Championship Series. The 18-year-old Idaho native won Rounds 11 and 12 at Infineon Raceway, setting a new series mark with six consecutive victories. With the two wins, the Team USA Scholarship nominee is now tied for the championship lead with four rounds (two double-headers) to go.

“I'm very pleased to have won both races and set a new record for consecutive wins,” said Smrz. “Both races were pretty entertaining, as I had to make two outside passes in the Carousel in race one, and a nice out-braking pass in race two. The goal now is to continue the win streak in October.”

Smrz is currently working to secure sponsorship for a move up to the Star Mazda Championship next season.
