Bradley Smith snatched pole position from teammate Julian Simon with a last-lap effort to lead an Aspar Aprilia 1-2 125cc grid at Misano.

Simon took the lead after 15 minutes in 40-minute session and held on to it throughout the session with several improvements, until Briton Smith shot to the top of the timesheets when the time had already expired, with a 1m43.727s lap.

Spaniard Simon will thus start second, just 0.016s behind Smith, with Andrea Iannone (Ongetta) in third thanks to a late lap that put him ahead of Nicolas Terol (Jack & Jones), who rounds up an all-Aprilia front row.

Sergio Gadea put the third Aspar Aprilia at the head of the second row, followed by Indianapolis GP winner Pol Espargaro (Derbi), Marc Marquez (KTM), and Simone Corsi (Fontana Aprilia).

Kiefer Aprilia's Stefan Bradl and Ajo Derbi's Sandro Cortese complete the top ten.
