Oriol Servia, Dreyer & Reinbold, Barber 2012Oriol Servia has been issued with a 10-place grid penalty for this weekend's IndyCar race at Barber Motorsports Park following an unauthorized engine change.

The Dreyer & Reinbold team changed the Lotus unit in the Spaniard's car after Friday's second practice session, although it was not immediately clear whether it change was precautionary or due to a failure.

Rule 15.6.1 of IndyCar's sporting regulations prevent unapproved engine changes except in the event of an engine failure.

Simon Pagenaud was penalized for the same infraction in St. Petersburg last weekend when the Schmidt-Hamilton team opted to make a precautionary change to its Honda powerplant.
