One of the American Le Mans Series' most improved drivers in the 2011 season, Bryan Sellers, has been confirmed for a fourth season (and third full season) with Team Falken Tire for 2012. Sellers and Wolf Henzler won twice in 2011 and posted seven top-six finishes in the highly competitive GT class.
Falken's 2012 effort still features many of the pieces that helped the team surge forward in 2011. Derrick Walker remains team manager – despite his new IndyCar duties doing the same job at Ed Carpenter Racing – and the team has bought a new 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The new 997-based car features extensive bodywork development, from wider dimensions to flared rear wheel arches and front wheel arches that allow for wider diameter front tires. The team will take delivery of its new car at Walker's Indianapolis shop in January.
Falken's tires have also undergone further development, with the manufacturer testing in both Japan and the U.S. of their 2012 compounds. In the team's 2011 car, Sellers and Henzler tested in mid-December at Sebring.
“Continuity is such a huge part of a successful program, so it is great to be returning to a team that has worked well and has been successful together,” Sellers said. “It's also a huge benefit to have Wolf returning to the program. He is a great friend and teammate. He offers a lot of knowledge and brings something to a program that is not easily recreated. Along those same lines, the team is returning with Derrick Walker as our team manager. Derrick was able to bring so much to the program last year in his first season in the ALMS. I can't wait to see what he is able to now with a little time under his belt.”
